The Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ

"Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel....that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures." (1 Corinthians 15:1-4)

Humanity is separated from God and needs a Savior.

The barrier that separates us from God and His blessing is sin. Not everyone is as bad as he or she can be. Yet, sin manifests itself in all people as self-will opposed to the will of God. A perfectly holy God cannot excuse and overlook the problem of sin.

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23)

God, in His mercy, gave His only Son to be the Savior from sin.

Because of sin, humanity is spiritually dead, will experience physical death and then eternal separation from God in Hell. God, in His rich mercy, has provided a way of salvation from these terrible consequences of sin. This salvation is provided by His Son, Jesus Christ.

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23)

Jesus gave His life as a substitutionary sacrifice.

We all deserve to pay the penalty for our own sin. In the grace of God , Jesus died in our place. He paid the penalty for us, suffering for our sins.

"For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit." (1 Peter 3:18)

Salvation is received through faith in Jesus Christ.

Salvation is not universally applied. Neither is it something we could ever earn on our own. We need the one salvation that is approved by God and that is the one His Son provided when He died on the cross. That salvation is received when we call by faith on the name of Jesus.

"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9not of works, lest anyone should boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)
