"...showing all
humility to all men." -Titus 3:2
To speak evil of no one, to be
peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all
men.
1. Introduction:
Humility is the direct application in my life of the
redemptive and saving work of the Trinity.
Titus
3:4-5 - But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior
toward man appeared, 5not by works of
righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy
He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and
renewing of the Holy Spirit.
2. By showing humility
we reflect something very true and special about
God.
a. The Most
High God lowers Himself to save us. This is grace.
Titus
2:11 - For the grace of God that brings salvation has
appeared to all men.
b. God's grace can
be defined by the two words in 3:4: kindness and
love.
Titus
3:4 - But when the kindness and the love of God our
Savior toward man appeared.
c. By
contrast, pride is more representative of
Satan.
3. When we show
humility we are remembering our desperate condition from
which we were saved.
Titus
3:3 - For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient,
deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in
malice and envy, hateful and hating one
another.
4. We are to show all
humility go all people.
a. In all
social settings: family, church, work, country.
b. Without
partiality.
c. To both saved
and unsaved.
5. By humbly
reflecting God's grace we are:
a. The best
witness to the unsaved.
b. The best
encouragement to the church.
6. Beware of
unacceptable humility look-alikes.
a.
Flattery.
b. False
humility.
c.
Self-pity.
d. Irresponsibility
or laziness.
7. If we do not show
humility:
a. We can
begin conveying a spirit of self-righteousness.
b. We can dishonor
the Lord by stealing glory from Him.
c. We will reveal
ourselves as hypocrites.

Scripture quoted is from the New King James
Version)
