"...Him who works all things
according to the counsel of His will."
-Ephesians
1:11
In Him also we have obtained an
inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of
Him who works all things according to the counsel of His
will.
1. The fundamental cause of all God's
works is His will.
a. "will" - God has personal
desires.
b. "counsel" - God needs no
advice.
c. "purpose" - God's desires are
formulated into divine purposes.
2. Consider the nature of God's
purpose-driven works in the world.
a. He is actively
working.
b. The scope of His work is
amazingly complex.
1) It is both universal
and personal.
2) It is both eternal and
present.
3. Notice God's gracious purposes for
the saints.
a. He purposed to predestine
you.
b. He purposed to put you in
Christ.
Ephesians 1:4 -
Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the
world, that we should be holy and without blame before
Him in love.
John 14:20 - "At that day you will know that I am in My
Father, and you in Me, and I in you."
c. He purposed to grant you an
eternal inheritance of immeasurable value.

Scripture quoted is from the New King James
